Call for PhD Forum

The second international conference on topics in theoretical computer Science (TTCS 2017) provides a PhD forum in conjunction with the international conference on TCS. The objectives of the forum are to offer an environment for students to exchange their ideas and experiences with peers and to get constructive feedback from senior researchers in related areas. The forum is particularly aimed at PhD students in the early stages of their career and Master students planning to pursue their research in a PhD program. The target audience for the forum is mainly PhD students, their advisors, related researchers and also the attendees of conference in general.

The scope of the PhD Forum is exactly the same as the TTCS conference. The PhD forum will include proceedings consisting of abstracts describing the work of the doctoral students. During the forum, researchers with experience in supervising and examining PhD students will be able to participate and provide feedback and advice to the participants.

The PhD forum is open for two types of submissions:
1) Recently graduated students (with at most two years of graduation) or students with at least one published or accepted conference, symposium or journal paper are invited to present their thesis results to a broad audience.
2) The submissions that propose research ideas that are mature enough to be presented into a paper and whose content can evolve to become the substantial part of a PhD dissertation. The authors should be PhD students or Masters students aspiring to get a PhD and having in mind a clear idea of a proposal.

Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of up to 4 pages including a clearly highlighted problem they address, a brief discussion of motivation, challenges, related work, and their contributions.

Authors of accepted submissions are expected to participate in person to the Forum to present their work.

The PhD Forum is designed as a full day event including keynote talks, short oral presentations of accepted submissions, and group discussions.

All submissions must be prepared in TTCS regular paper format and directly emailed (as email attachment in PDF format) to the PhDForum chair Dr Zarei (zarei __at__ sharif.edu).

The PhD Forum will include a Best Thesis Award.

All deadlines (submission, notification, ...) are the same the TTCS 2017 regular papers.
